Jose M. Page, 93, of Ipswich and formerly of Gales Ferry, CT, died at home on Easter Sunday morning March 31, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born in Iriga City, Philippines to the late Enrique and Sebastiana Page, he was raised and educated in Iriga and later enlisted with the United States Navy in 1957. He served for 20 years. During that time, he was deployed on the USS Aspro, USS Ronquil, USS Pickerel, USS Cusk, USS Rock and the USS Blueback. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War before he was honorably discharged in 1977. He continued his career as an electrician at the United States Submarine Base in Groton, CT until his retirement.
Jose was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes in Gales Ferry, CT. He loved to sing. His beautiful and booming voice could be heard throughout the church, where he sang for many years in the church choir. He was very devoted to his family, starting with his parents and nine siblings. He and his brothers, Enrique Jr. and Salvador, enlisted in the US Navy and sponsored their siblings’ immigration to the United States. Upon retirement from the navy, Jose was a stay-at-home dad until he resumed work as a civilian. But the job he was most proud of was being the grandfather (lolo) to his grandchildren, who contributed to his playful energy and longevity.
He will be missed by his wife of 64 years, Anacoreta (Boquiron) of Ipswich, his daughters, Judy Page and her husband, Matt Robichaud of Ledyard, CT, Joan Rees of Ipswich, Jocelyn Page and her partner, Jared Smith of Brooklyn, NY, his grandchildren, Jackson, Isabella and Harper Rees of Ipswich, his siblings, Virgilio Page, Salvador Page, Zenaida Banta, Norma Abiog, Marilou Espeleta, Benjamin Page, Oscar Page, and Pilar Gueco and a great many nieces and nephews.
