Donna Irene (Ela) Higgins

Donna Irene (Ela) Higgins), 73, loving wife of the late Angus S. Higgins, died Thursday afternoon  April 4, 2024  in the Lahey Medical Center in Burlington.  Born in Quincy on  October 6, 1950  she was the daughter of the late Harry R. and Laura C. (Lord) Ela.

         Donna graduated from Randolph High School. She married Angus Higgins in 1981 and they resided in Ipswich for the entirety of their marriage.  After his passing on  October 4, 2015  Donna moved to Cape Ann with her daughter and grandchildren.  She loved traveling, boating and trips to Nova Scotia and later on attending events in Gloucester and Rockport.  Donna loved friends as family.  She was very supportive of everyone with a big heart and a huge hug.  She was loved by her family and will be missed more than words could ever explain.  

          Donna is survived by her daughter  Dawn Higgins, step-daughter Shelly Higgins-Mandel, step-son Paul Higgins, her grandchildren:  Skye-Laura, Sean and Aiden Howes who shared a loving home with her, grandchildren Jacob, Scott, Nancy, Alex Mandel and Grammie 2.0 to Marissa and Mason Mandel and great-grandchildren :  Camden, Hollyn, Haizley (deceased), Briella and Kash and Ozzie the cat, as well as many loving cousins.

          Visiting hours will be held Friday  April 26th,  from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.  in the Morris Funeral Home  45 North Main Street, Ipswich, relatives and friends are respectfully invited.  There will be a Celebration of Life at the beginning of the summer which will be a happy occasion.  In lieu of flowers please consider a perennial that will come back every year and remind you of Donna.  She loved lilacs, peonies, roses, sunflowers and black eyed susans.  To send a letter of condolence to Donna’s family please go to :  MorridFH.com .
